Staff Accountant – Audit & Assurance

Position Overview

Cummings, Keegan, & Co., P.L.L.P., a mid-sized public accounting firm, is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant – Audit & Assurance to join our firm! This position provides exceptional service to our privately-held business clients by assisting with preparation of financial statements, participating in audits, and performing other accounting services.

Qualified candidates will have accounting knowledge with an interest in audit, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and demonstrated experience working with clients. Ideal candidates will also have review and compilation experience.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of the Staff Accountant – Audit & Assurance position are performed in a collaborative team environment with ongoing training and performance coaching from colleagues and supervisory staff.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Delivering exceptional client service.
  • Researching and applying accounting standards updates.
  • Assisting with preparation and analysis of financial statements.
    Effective use of various accounting and client-specific software.
  • Consistent documentation and communication of fluctuating workload.
  • Independent delivery of timely and effective communication and follow up.
  • Performing audit, review, compilations, and other technical accounting duties.
  • Collaboration within the department and throughout the firm to accomplish workload.
  • Demonstrating commitment to ongoing professional development and career growth.
  • Organizing and maintaining client financial information, data entry, and interpretation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 1 year experience in accounting and/or audit duties for privately-held businesses required.
Experience using and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
Experience with Microsoft Excel data analysis and interpretation, and use of Office Suite and Adobe.
CPA license or CPA candidate desired.

Schedule

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Minimum expectation of 54 hours per week, January through mid April. Alternative work schedules may be considered.

Work Environment

Flexible work arrangement available onsite in Minnesota, remote, or hybrid. The onsite setting is a professional office environment with extensive use of standard office equipment and technology including computers, web-based and desktop phones, webcams, headsets, scanners, photocopiers, and software applications and programs.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require:

  • The ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Verbal, written, electronic communication, and accurate information exchange.
  • Review of physical and electronic documentation and ability to inspect accuracy.
  • Consistent operation of a computer, keyboard, printer, and other office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
